Owning a home is an investment. If we can, we try our best to avoid having to do any major repairs. In order to avoid major repairs and keep things running as they should, home maintenance is one of the realities of being a homeowner. Something that should be a top priority is our gutters. The reason for this is that when neglected, gutters can cause many other, more expensive repairs later on.
These are helpful signs that you may need new gutters.
If your gutters are pulling away from your home or beginning to sag, this is an indicator that your gutters are not working properly and or are clogged. The danger to this is that it could cause damage to your home’s fascia board, trim, and roofline.
Peeling paint by your gutters is a sign that your gutters aren’t being protected and moisture damage may have already occurred.
A sign that your gutters aren’t working properly is if you find rotten wood around your exterior trim, windowsills, or if your door jam is rotting. Rotted wood is caused by water leaking from the gutters.
Cracks and Splits
Small cracks eventually grow into large cracks. When cracks or splits begin, they should be dealt with right away. If you live in a climate that experiences lots of snow and ice, cracks and splits are more likely to be and become a bigger problem due to ice that may cause cracks and splits to become bigger.
If your gutters have any of these signs, it may be time to get your gutters replaced. A great option for gutter replacement is LeafGuard® because there is no maintenance. LeafGuard® is unique because it is the only one-piece gutter system proven to never clog.
